Do I need travel insurance for Japan?
Japan doesn't require travel insurance for entry, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs there are high — a hospital stay can quickly reach several thousand dollars. Most travellers get cover that includes emergency medical and repatriation before they fly.
Are there any customs I should know before visiting Japan?
A few key ones: remove your shoes when entering homes and many traditional restaurants — look for a step up at the entrance. Avoid eating or drinking while walking.
